Q

I'm trying to gather some funding for a technology for which I've filed a provisional patent. The manufacturer is willing to work with me but need some funding to get the design started. Could you suggest an organization that can help or any other sources where I can get funding, other than venture capitalists or banks? Tried MaRS but so far, they can't help unless my technology is developed.

Yes! CONII – The Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation. They can generally help up to $30K for proof of principle/prototyping type work. That should get you started! Reach out to them. If you need a contact, let me know.

CONII colleges can help Ontario businesses speed up their R&D process and move their products to market more quickly, which enhances the province’s competitiveness in the global marketplace. Through CONII, Ontario companies are able to access up to $30,000 in funding to support technical activities such as product, process and prototype development, proof of principle projects and testing, and business and commercialization services including business planning, market research, and marketing and communication strategies, in partnership with a CONII-member college. CONII is all about putting knowledge to work for your company.
