Sprouter in the news – what a week!

Last week was a whirlwind of press for the Sprouter team – we’re really excited about the media coverage and wanted to share it with the community.

On Monday Sprouter’s Founder/CEO Sarah Prevette was featured in Inc. Magazine’s annual Top 30 Under 30 entrepreneurs list. They put together a great package about the group of young entrepreneurs, and Sarah was featured in the following articles:

On Tuesday we were featured in a Financial Post article by Daryl-Lynn Carlson about the G20 Young Entrepreneur’s Summit in June. This article, Web Generation’s Advantage, also appeared in CanWest newspapers across the country, and on Canada.com.

Entrepreneur Dave Wilkin is writing a 10-part series for The Globe and Mail about entrepreneurship. In his fourth column on Wednesday he talked about Three Ways to Kick-Start your Entrepreneurial Career. Dave spoke to Sarah Prevette about how networking events like Sprout Up can help entrepreneurs build their networks:

“Entrepreneurial meet ups and events are a great way for founders to network within the greater start-up community and establish relationships that they can continue online,” says Sprouter CEO Sarah Prevette. “Start-up founders can build supportive relationships with each other based on a shared appreciation of the difficulties faced in building a business. Sprouter offers entrepreneurs a chance to discover other innovators, learn about upcoming events in their local area and get immediate answers from vetted experts.”

The article also appeared on CTV’s website.

Inc. writer Donna Fenn wrote this article for BNET on Wednesday about the number of women on the 30 Under 30 list, and she mentioned Sarah.

On Thursday technology website IT Business published an in-depth interview with Sarah Prevette. Writer Joaquim Menezes asked Sarah about how Sprouter is different from other networking sites; how Sprouter garners user feedback; and some projects that will be launching soon. Here’s an excerpt:

“Often our members want feedback on their product development. At an early stage they would like someone to look at what they’re doing and comment on the design, for instance.

Many users look for people who’ve had experience with deal with specific investors or corporations. Others seek introductions to various companies or even to the media. It’s really about forging relationships with the right people to move forward.

And it’s a quid pro quo. If I answer your question or help you make a connection today, then hopefully tomorrow when I have a question or need a connection someone will step forward and do the same service for me.”

Rob Lewis of TechVibes wrote a post about Sarah and her inclusion on Inc.’s list on Thursday – read it here.

To finish the week Sarah’s Inc. profile was the lead story in the Smart Brief on Entrepreneurs newsletter on Friday, “From Cold Calling to a Hot Idea.” The daily newsletter reaches thousands of entrepreneurs so we’re happy they could share it with their audience.

Last week also marked the launch of Sarah’s I Am My Ambition video – the project is spearheaded by impact, a student entrepreneurship organization, and interview successful entrepreneurs about their journey. The video is below:
