New Sprouter feature: follower notifications

On Sprouter the value is in the connections – you want to follow people who provide value so you create a network of relevant, helpful fellow entrepreneurs. When you follow someone you hope that it becomes mutual – that they will find value in your updates and follow you back. That’s why we’re excited to debut a new feature on Sprouter today – follower e-mail notifications. This means that anytime you follow someone they will be alerted with an e-mail containing some important information about you:

  • Your vitals – your name, location & biography
  • Your followers/following count
  • Your website – people can check out your startup right from this e-mail
  • Your last five posts – so they can get a feel for the kind of information you’re providing

These details help provide a snapshot of who you are and your interactions on Sprouter. Similarly, you’ll receive these e-mails anytime someone follows you – it provides an easy way to look at their details and decide whether or not to follow them back. So don’t be surprised if you start seeing these e-mails in your inbox – and we hope they’ll help you create your own circle of entrepreneurs on Sprouter.

This is great and will be useful in learning about the people who have an interest in learning more about me. Well done Sprouter team!

Sarah, Email notification of new followers should be a good way to draw inactive users back to Sprouter. I’ve noticed through the beta period that most users look at it a few times and then stop posting. Hopefully, this will remind inactive users to visit the network to see what they’ve been missing.
